If We Think Our Family Is Messed Up, Look At Jesus’ Family Tree & The Junk That Was On His Tree. What Junk Do You Have On Your Family Tree? Aren’t You Glad God Is Not Like People? People Will Find One Flaw And Discard You.

If we think our family is messed up, just look at Jesus’ family tree and the junk that was on His tree. Every other person in Jesus' family would have been considered dysfunctional if the decision was left up to us. Many of Jesus' relatives had some messed-up past, however, their past did not dictate how or where they would finish. Just look at Rahab. Lady of the day & night.

Despite being a harlot, Rahab found favor from God. God used Rahab mightily. Abraham pimps out his wife Sarai and made profits from it. ‘God recruits from the pit, not the pedestal”. “God is not looking for gold vessels or silver vessels. He is looking for willing vessels”. Never allow where you start to dictate where or how you will finish. What junk do you have on your family tree?  I’m curious as to what whispers you’re hearing that are blocking you from allowing God to utilize you powerfully? Don’t give the adversary any more territory that Jesus has already won for them. God redefines those with a past. God redefines not only you but also me. What is our embarrassment? There is now no longer any condemnation for those who believe in Jesus.

You see many of us are sometimes embarrassed by our relatives, we think we have dysfunctional families, dysfunctional is defined as something that is flawed and doesn’t operate correctly or someone that deviates from normal and accepted social behavior. An example of something that would be described as dysfunctional is a family that fights all the time and that deviates from the accepted way a family is supposed to behave.

Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above – spiritually transformed, renewed, READY TO BE USED] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].” (AMP)

When David first arrived at King Saul’s palace, he was a simple, unknown shepherd boy. But he had an impressive résumé nonetheless! God, in essence, said, I saw you kill the bear and the lion; I was watching your courage, leadership, fighting ability, and strength when you didn’t even realize I had my eye on you; Solomon wrote, A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men; (Proverbs 18:16). David’s ‘gift’ may have only been the ability to accurately swing a slingshot, but it opened the door to his future as Israel’s king! So even though what you have got does not seem like much, give it to God and watch what He can do with it! You say, But I’m not formally trained. But All God requires is that you show up, say yes, and make yourself available! When you give God what you have, He gives you what He’s got; and that alone makes your odds unbeatable! Regardless of where you come from, your family structure, gender, ethnicity, age, education, employment, handicaps, or even failures, you still have enough to accomplish great things!

Now, you need some ‘biblical’ examples instead, here are a few you should always revert to when you feel unqualified or unequipped: Jesus’ family tree is filled with the sorts of people you would expect to see on TMZ. If God were to take human flesh, you would expect him to take the flesh of a much different family.

Lessons from Rahab in Lineage of Jesus

It doesn’t matter what our history says to us or what our past carries; our past is the reason that Jesus was born. As a businesswoman, Rahab is depicted in the Bible as someone who selected her career to make a comfortable livelihood. It’s possible, though, that she was more like the ladies that my beloved buddy ministered to in the adult entertainment industry. Possibly, Rahab comes from a position of deep brokenness or adolescent traumatic experience. Perhaps her background has been a source of grief or abuse, and she has become entrapped by feelings of disdain and humiliation.

  1. Night after night, desperate decision after desperate choice had led her to a life, she had never imagined for herself.
  2. Condemnation?
  3. Shame?
  4. Are there too many errors, too much remorse, and it’s too late to make a difference?
  5. No matter how wonderful or bad our history has been, it will never be good enough to deserve God’s salvation or shocking enough to prohibit us from receiving it.

2. God uses those with a past.

Perhaps you can nod your head in agreement that God can save anybody who has a criminal record, but here’s where you get stuck: believing that God can also utilize everyone who has a criminal record. Allow Rahab’s narrative to persuade you. Rahab’s background was not a hindrance to God’s use of her. The first fight to win the Promised Land was won by God via Rahab, who not only saved the spies, but also saved her family in the process. God, on the other hand, had something much better in store for Rahab.

3. God redefines those with a past.

When Rahab is mentioned in the Bible, she is nearly always referred to as Rahab the harlot, with the exception of Matthew’s genealogy. Rahab, the mother of Boaz, is what Matthew refers to her as. Rahab was redefined by God, who transformed her from a fallen woman to a chosen woman, from a bad girl to a bride, from a mess to a mother, and from a prostitute to the progenitor of the Messiah. God redefines not only you but also me. What is our embarrassment? There is now no longer any condemnation for those who believe in Jesus.

For instance-

There’s Abraham, who tried to cut his son Isaac’s throat. Isaac survived to be the father of Jacob, an unscrupulous but entertaining character who won his position in Jesus’ family line by lying and cheating his blind, old father. Abraham tried to pimp out his wife Sarai PSA: Do not model your family by Abraham’s example. I am sure he was a nice guy, but still.

First off, as the story begins, God appears to Abraham (still named Abram at this point) and promises to make of him a “great nation”—read, “a ton of offspring”—and a nice patch of land to call his own, presently (and inconveniently) occupied by the Canaanites (Genesis 12:1-9).

Well, the ink is hardly dry on that story when a famine enters the land, thus forcing Abraham and his wife Sarah (still named Sarai) to hightail it to Egypt so they cannot starve. And if that sounds familiar to you, well done looking to Egypt for food during a famine anticipates how the book of Genesis ends, with Jacob and his sons moving to Egypt because of a famine.

Anyway, all this is fine and dandy, but the problems begin when, on the way to Egypt, Abraham realizes that Sarah is a “woman beautiful in appearance” (12:11), and so surmises that the Egyptians are going to kill him so they can take Sarah into Pharaoh’s harem.

Abraham’s solution is not to turn back—since dying of starvation is still on the table—but to suggest a ruse. Namely, that she presents herself as his sister, for what appears to be an utterly self-serving reason. . . and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife’; then they will kill me, but they will let you live. Say you are my sister, so that it may go well with me because of you, and that my life may be spared on your account.”  (12:12-13)

In fact, he seems to make a profit in the deal. And for her sake he [Pharaoh] dealt well with Abram; and he had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male and female slaves, female donkeys, and camels. (12:16) Way to go Abraham. Gutsy move. Seriously. Way to pimp out your wife. How about having some faith in God here? The same kind of faith you just showed when God called you out of your home in Haran to move to Canaan, and you simply up and left. Now, at the first sign of trouble (after all, what’s a little famine to the Almighty?), you press the panic button: Say you are my sister, so that it may go well with me.

When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was incredibly beautiful. When the officials of Pharaoh saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house. And for her sake he dealt well with Abram; … (GEN 12:14-16A)

So far, everything is happening the way Abram predicted. When Pharaoh heard his officials tell him how beautiful Sarai was, she was taken into Pharaoh’s house. As her “brother,” Pharaoh dealt well with Abram. Just how did he deal well with her “brother”? …and he had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male and female slaves, female donkeys, and camels.

Foreshadowing the Exodus but the LORD afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. So, Pharaoh called Abram, and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her for my wife? Now then, here is your wife, take her, and be gone.”

And Pharaoh gave his men orders concerning him; and they set him on the way, with his wife and all that he had. GEN 12:17-20 NRS)

Sojourn in Egypt. When Abraham gets to the border with his wife, his nephew Lot, his people, and his possessions, the soldiers notice his wife. They say she is his sister (according to the plan). The guards report to Pharaoh, and he wants her as part of his harem. He tells them to follow plan A, take her to the palace and deal well with the brother. Plan B is to kill her husband, which they do not do because (in Pharaoh’s mind) she has no husband. Abimelech, King of Gerard: Another Unwitting John?

When Abraham sojourned in the territory of Gerar, Abimelech the king also took Sarah (Sarai and Abram’s names were changed in Genesis 17) into his household, because she was beautiful. This time, God speaks to the man who took Sarah from her “brother.” But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, “Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” (GEN 20:3 ESV)

Now it sounds like he has had sex with her, and God is about to avenge her husband. But here is what we read just a little later. After Abimelech protests that he is innocent because Abraham told him she was his sister, God says this: “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart; furthermore, it was I who kept you from sinning against me. Therefore, I did not let you touch her.” (GEN 20:6 NRS)

So, it says he took her, which would normally indicate they had sex. But it also says God kept Abimelech from sinning against me and did not let you touch her, which means they did not have sex. If you only look at the text about Abraham and Sarah in the land of Egypt, you will have to conclude Sarah slept with Pharaoh because he took her as his wife. That is usually what that means. But since we have this case where a man “took her” [as a wife] but never “touched her” (because God prevented him), it is possible this happened with Pharaoh as well. Gerar “In the Hands of an Angry God”

Like Pharaoh, God visited Abimelech and his people with a plague (20:17-18; cf. 12:17). They must have been wondering what was wrong. Finally, they knew. God tells him how to remedy the situation. “Now then, return the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all that are yours.” (GEN 20:7 NRS)

This is the only verse that specifically calls Abraham a prophet, but he has already been playing the role of a prophet in many ways. Of course, the king must restore the prophet’s wife to him. Abraham, as a prophet, will then pray and heal Abimelech and his household of their plague of childlessness that started when he took Sarah into his household. And this is the man and woman God chose to initiate God’s covenant with the Jews? The bloodline of the Messiah officially starts with them. That seems to be why God protects them. The Bible does say that God’s call and gifts are irrevocable, apparently even for such scoundrels. (Romans 11:29).

Jacob’s name, deceiver does seem to characterize much of Jacob’s life. But he was also Israel, one to whom God made promises to which He remained faithful. God appeared to Jacob, and Jacob believed in God’s promises. Despite Jacob’s faults, God chose him to be the leader of a great nation that still bears his name today.

The name Jacob; means deceiver. Jacob was crafty, tricky, and skilled in the ways of lying and manipulation. He was the kind of person who had big dreams and ambitions and was always looking for an angle. He wanted a blessing. True to his name, Jacob grew up as a conniver, deceiver, and cheat, and he eventually supplanted his brother’s position as heir to the birthright. After Jacob’s struggle with the Lord at Peniel, the Lord gave Jacob a new name: Israel. And God gave the reason: “Because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome” (Genesis 32:28).

Jacob got cheated himself when he ‘got to know’ the wrong girl by mistake and became the father of Judah. Judah made the same mistake with his own daughter-in-law, Tamar. Tamar had cheated him by disguising herself as a prostitute. I am telling you: these are not the sort of people you would invite for Christmas.

What does your past whisper to you? Maybe these whispers haunt you from choices you made years ago. Maybe those choices were yesterday.

Perhaps Rahab came from a place of deep brokenness or childhood trauma. Maybe her past was one of pain or abuse that left her trapped by disrespect and shame. Maybe Rahab had been rejected or abandoned and made a desperate choice to meet her growling stomach. Night after night, choice after desperate choice had become a life she never intended.

What whispers did Rahab hear? Condemnation? Fear? Shame? Worthlessness? Too many mistakes, too much regret, and too late for change? The good news is that no choice we ever make, no scars ever inflicted, no drink taken, or words flung, or body misused can keep us from the saving grace of Jesus. Our past is never good enough to earn God’s salvation nor shocking enough to keep us from it.

2. God uses those with a past. Maybe you can nod and amen that God can save anyone with a past but here is where you get stuck: believing that God can use anyone with a past as well.

Let Rahab’s story convince you. God used Rahab mightily despite her past. In the first battle to conquer the Promised Land, God used Rahab to not only save the spies, but save her family. But God had even more for Rahab. God used Rahab to shape the character, faith, and godliness of a son named Boaz, who would one day rescue a young Moabite widow.

I wonder what whispers might be keeping you from letting God use you mightily. What is the enemy bringing up from years ago or even last week to taunt that you are disqualified. Do not give the enemy ground that Jesus has already taken. Jesus’ own lineage shows how God powerfully uses us despite our past.

3. God redefines those with a past. God redefined Rahab — from a fallen woman to a chosen woman, from a bad girl to a bride, from a mess to a mother and from prostitute to progenitor of the Messiah.

God redefines you and me as well. Our shame? There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus… (Romans 8:1) Our sin? If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:19)

Our hopelessness? Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3)

Our chains? Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:34-36)

David was a power-hungry peeping-tom, who spied on Bathsheba bathing on a rooftop one evening. David arranged for her husband, Uriah, to be murdered. David and Bathsheba went to become the parents of Solomon, the next name in the family tree of Emmanuel, God-with-us.

Of course, the family tree ultimately winds its way to Joseph. Joseph, who, Matthew makes no bones to hide, was not the father of Jesus at all. He was just the fiancé of the boy’s mother- Mary, the teenage girl with a child on the way and no ring on her finger. Matthew does not tell us about shepherds filled with good news. Matthew does not bother with imperial politics or mangers filled with straw or inns with no vacancies.

Instead, Matthew tells us the story by first telling us about the messy and the embarrassing and the sordid and the complicated and the disappointing and the unfaithful parts of Jesus’ family. And then, having said all that, Matthew tells us this baby is Emmanuel, God-with-us, God-for-us, as one of us, in the flesh.

Regardless of your past, you too can have a great future ahead of you. Even if you dropped out of high school, didn’t go to college; can’t find a job; battled with addictions and habits; lived in the projects; or come from a broken home. and even have a criminal record! You are still a vessel that God can use!

What Junk Do You Have on Your Family Tree? All of us can relate to this question in one way or another because some of us have come from families that were just a mess. Aren’t you glad that God is not like people? People will find one flaw or one crack and discard you and your entire life. But not God! He does not make any attempts to replace you or use something or someone else because of the junk on your family tree. No, He uses the SAME old you to make you a better you! God does not throw us away when we mess up, after all, Jesus was a carpenter!

Why would He throw away what He possesses the ability to fix?! You are never so irreparably damaged that God cannot repair you! And no matter what ‘labels’ people put on you (even the ones that are true), cannot hinder you from still being a work-in-progress workmanship of God’s! No matter who you used to be; no matter what you used to do; God Still Wants to Use Even You! Will You Let Him?!

So, if he can use Moses, with a stutter to still declare the 10 commandments, and a no-named servant girl to bless a highly named general, surely, he can use you just the same, no matter what you do for a living! You do not have to be a preacher to share the good news of the gospel, you can be a bus driver! Just imagine how many people a bus driver meets every day!? What about a janitor or teacher at a school? They meet hundreds of people (young and old, and of every ethnicity) daily! Imagine if they talked about Jesus! Not to mention a cashier! And they do not even have to turn into the early church evangelist on the job either.

In other words, it does not matter what your occupation is (or lack thereof), God can use you if you are available to be used! He does not ask for perfect vessels, just clean ones! 2 Timothy 2:20, “Now in a large house there are not only vessels and objects of gold and silver, but also vessels and objects of wood and of earthenware, and some are for honorable (noble, good) use and some for dishonorable (ignoble, common).” (AMP) God will use a gold or silver vessel just like He will use a wood or earthenware one. The importance is on the vessel being available and clean! So, He’ll use you if you’re a dog walker or a police officer; a CEO or a chef; a firefighter or a mechanic; a senator or the fry cook at Applebee’s; a professor or a high school dropout; young or old. educated or uneducated; wealthy or poor; from the white house or the poor house! God has no favorites! He will use any clean vessel! 2 Timothy 2:21, “Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things [which are dishonorable – disobedient, sinful], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and], useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.” (AMP) No matter what you do for a living, as a clean vessel, you can still work for the Lord! God Can Use, Even You!

Whatever your gifts, talents, skillsets, or abilities, God wants to use them. And that does not mean you have to be a part of the five-fold ministry! People who are orderly God can use; people who are good thinkers and strategists, God can use; people who can sow; stitch; teach, bake; do laundry; work at the bank; restock the shelves at the supermarket, can all be used by God. All you must do is know what your skill set is, and then home in on perfecting it through practicing it. Truth is, we spend so much time trying to get people into a black robe and into the pulpit, that we’re no longer preparing the next generation to put on a black robe and get into the government where they can change this world for the better! Yes, the church has need of you; but so, does this world. We are not citizens of it, but while we are strangers passing through, let us use our gifts and talents to leave it better than we found it. And that means telling God, ‘Use me and my gifts and talents, wherever and however, you see fit!’ Let everything you do reflect that you represent Jesus in everything you do! God Desires to Use, Even You!

Who did God choose to be the mother of Jesus? A famous actress? A celebrity? A great athlete? A famous politician? Nope, the mother of Jesus (Mary) was a peasant girl! Please understand greatness is not attached to Wealth, it is attached to Willingness! “Then Mary said, Behold, I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be done to me according to what you have said…” (Luke 1:38 AMP). God is not looking for great achievements, just availability! Are you willing to let God use you?

The very next time you doubt whether you have enough to do a work for God or dare to underestimate yourself, your worth, and value, just remember this: Jacob was a Moses who had a speech impediment. Exodus 4:10. But Moses pleaded with the LORD, “O Lord, I’m not particularly good with words. I never have been, and I am not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Jacob was a Master of Deception; Gideon was a Self-Doubter; David was a Premeditated Sinner: Solomon was an Unwise Lover; Paul Was an Adversary: Elijah was Suicidal; Noah was Drunk; Abraham was Old. Jeremiah was Young; Timothy had Ulcers; Job Went Bankrupt With Boils. The Disciples Fell Asleep During Intercession; Isaiah Preached Naked. Leah wasn’t exactly a Beauty Queen; Naomi Lost All the Men in Her Life. John the Baptist was Beheaded at a Birthday Party, The Samaritan Woman Had Too Many of Other Folks Men; Saul was Tall; Zacchaeus was small; Samson was a Womanizer; Rahab was a Prostitute; Jonah was a Prejudiced Prophet: Peter had a temper and Lazarus was Dead and yet God used each of them greatly! So why can’t He use even you? Believe it or not, YOU HAVE ENOUGH! YOU ARE ENOUGH! AND GOD DESIRES TO USE, EVEN YOU!

Blessings

As His Disciples, We Get So Satisfied With OUR Healing; OUR Restoration; OUR Renewal; OUR Salvation And OUR Deliverance. You Have No Idea What The Planting Of Your Small Seed May One Day Yield For Someone Else’s Harvest.

2 Kings 7:9, “Then they said to each other, “What we are doing is not right. This is a day of good news AND WE ARE KEEPING IT TO OURSELVES…” (NIV)

As His Disciples, We Get So Satisfied With OUR Healing; OUR Restoration; OUR Renewal; OUR Salvation, And OUR Deliverance, We Forget That We Have Been Commissioned To Ensure That Others Receive All These Same Blessings Too. You Have No Idea What The Planting Of Your Small Seed May One Day Yield For Someone Else’s Harvest. There are lost people who need at least a little of what we have a lot of! Today I continue what I do because I want to be there as God’s mouthpiece for the person who is at the end of their rope. I want to teach them how to hold on even if it is to the last string. Because this is what we are here for.

It is wonderful that we are healed, restored, renewed, saved, and delivered, but what about those who do not have that testimony yet?

Today is a good day to share some of your food, and why not start with some Fruit? Share a pot of love, a plate of joy, a cup of peace, a forkful of longsuffering, a spoonful of gentleness, a glass of goodness, a saucer of faith, a serving of meekness, and a good portion of temperance? (Galatians 5:22-23).

Thanksgiving is almost here, and it immediately makes me think about sitting at the family table. You see, somewhere in the ‘Fathers Handbook’, I am convinced it says that the father automatically gets to carve the turkey, or the ham, or the roast. And most men do not mind; they feel very fatherly when they get to do that, very manly sitting at the head of the table with their super carving knife. But I have observed something rather odd. Now, if you come from a huge family like mine, you are accustomed to large portions of chicken, turkey, ham, ribs, rice, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, cornbread, yams, and the like. In other words, you are used to there being a lot of food! Yet, even with all this food available, often someone ends up with an empty plate! See, sometimes at a large dinner gathering, you have got someone who loads up their own plate, starts chowing down and shortstops all the food where they are! Ever notice that it all seems to pile up sometimes in a corner and does not get moved past there? After all, it is not going to bother the person whose plate is piled high, and they are satisfied stuffing their face! But while they are enjoying a full plate of food, some of us end up with nothing in our corner, because they got theirs, but did not continue to pass the trays to those who did not! However, the way this should work is that you take what you need, and you pass it on to others who do not have any yet. Sad to say but when you have got plenty, it is awfully easy to forget those who have not been served anything yet!

With that in mind, I want you to travel with me to Matthew 10. Jesus is speaking to His disciples, who have in a sense been sitting at the dinner table and being very well-fed. They have sat in many meetings with Jesus, they have heard, seen, and received a lot, and now He calls them together in Matthew 10:8 and says, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons…” (NIV) He’s sending them out now. And He does so with these added words, “…Freely you have received; FREELY GIVE.” (NIV) In other words, Jesus is saying, “Look, I passed it to you, not just so you could be full (especially of yourselves), but you’re supposed to pass it on to others!” But the problem comes in because we, as His disciples, get so satisfied with OUR healing; OUR restoration; OUR renewal; and OUR salvation and deliverance, that we forget that we have been commissioned to ensure that others receive all of these same blessings too. It is wonderful that we are healed, restored, renewed, saved, and delivered, but what about those who do not have that testimony yet?

The word “selfish” is what immediately comes to mind. The word “selfish” is defined as “to be concerned chiefly with one’s own personal profit or pleasure at the expense and consideration of others.”

Which takes us to Deuteronomy 15:7-9, “When you happen on someone who’s in trouble or needs help among your people with whom you live in this land that God, your God, is giving you, don’t look the other way pretending you don’t see him. Do not keep a tight grip on your purse. No. Look at him, open your purse, lend whatever and as much as he needs. Do not count the cost. Do not listen to that SELFISH voice saying, “It’s almost the seventh year, the year of All-Debts-Are-Canceled,” and turn aside and leave your needy neighbor in the lurch, refusing to help him. He’ll call God’s attention to you and your blatant sin.” (MSG).

For Those Who Do Not Know: Selfishness Is Sin! Which takes me back to the family table. Remember now, this is the FAMILY TABLE. Which makes this behavior all the worse! How do you sit at a table with more than enough, and yet allow your FAMILY to go without?! Likewise, how do we, as believers who serve a self-sacrificing Savior, have all that we have, and yet we are Selfish?!

In other words, if we imitate how our Savior lived, we can then live better. He was forgiving, loving, compassionate, gentle, kind, patient, and giving. I wonder would the people around us be able to say that they see those very same attributes in us, His disciples.

John 13:34-35, “Let me give you a new command: Love one another. IN THE SAME WAY I LOVED YOU, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they SEE the love you have for each other.” (MSG).

Do we love as unconditionally as Jesus? Of course not, that is why so many are sitting at the corner of the family table with no provision while we pig out in our little section of the family table! As believers, we are indeed held to a higher standard in society, no matter how bad the society may get. We as believers, are to be “…recognized…” as forgiving, loving, compassionate, gentle, kind, patient, and giving. And the word “recognize” is defined as, “to clearly identify; to acknowledge or take notice of in some definite way; to perceive without question; to discern.” People should be able to look at our characteristics as Christ-like believers, and clearly see; take notice of; perceive without question and easily discern that we are in fact who we say we are and belong to who we say we belong to! In addition, we are “…commanded…” to love others “…IN THE SAME WAY…” that Jesus loved us. And a “command” is not a suggestion! A “suggestion” is defined as “an idea or plan put forward for consideration.” But we have not received a “suggestion” to be considered as a possible good idea. No, we have been given a Command! And a “command” is defined as, “to give an authoritative order with the expectation that it will be followed.” And our Authority is Jesus Christ as Lord, King, Savior, Master, God, Chief, and Commanding Officer! We are Commanded to Love Others “…IN THE SAME WAY…” that Jesus loved us! And that cannot be done by starving family members at the family table!

Even Judas was provided for at the family table, how much more should we then provide for the least, the lost, the lonely, the last, the looked over, and the left out?!

Galatians 6:7-8, “Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants SELFISHNESS, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God! —harvests a crop of weeds. All he will have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.” (MSG)

If You Do Not Want to Reap Selfishness, Stop Sowing It!

Let us travel back to our opening text. There is a story in the Old Testament in the book of 2 Kings. It tells about four lepers who lived outside a city that was being starved to death by an enemy siege. Finally, they decided just to surrender to the enemy thinking, “Well, you know what? We are probably going to be killed anyway, or we are going to die of starvation. So, maybe they will take us and feed us, or we’ll just die like we’re going to die here.” However, what happened was they found out that God had performed a miracle and driven the enemy out. The camp was empty. And they ended up with all this food that had been left behind! They are sitting there eating and chowing down all night long while people are still starving to death in the city that they just came from!

Finally, by the morning light, one of them says, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news AND WE ARE KEEPING IT TO OURSELVES.” (7:9 NIV) What a picture of us as American Christians! Think about it: We’re the spiritually wealthiest Christians in all of history: We have seminars, and workshops, and radio programs, and TV programs, and conferences, convocations, magazines, books, blogs, iPods; iPads; tablets; laptops; and websites. It is just so easy to get caught up in a comfortable cycle of listening and just saying, “Well, you know, that was a nice sermon, wasn’t it?” Going to Bible study, and attending a fellowship we enjoy, going to concerts, and feeling real spiritual a lot of the time. And honestly, with all of this at our disposal, we ought to be growing. We ought to be filling up with spiritual resources– and loading up on the Lord, loading up on His truth-HOWEVER NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHERS! “…Freely you have received all of this; FREELY GIVE.”

Question: "What does the Bible say about selfishness?"

Answer: Selfishness is that attitude of being concerned with one’s own interests above the interests of others. However, the Bible commands us to “do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others” (Philippians 2:3-4, NASB).

It’s interesting to note in this passage that Paul compares selfishness to “empty conceit”—a term that could be translated “vanity” or “arrogance.” It refers to an overly high opinion of oneself. Selfishness, then, is akin to narcissism.

Selfishness or empty conceit is often expressed by building up oneself while tearing down someone else. It is one of the “works of the flesh” according to Galatians 5:20. It leads to “disorder and every evil practice” (James 3:16). Selfishness caused the children of Israel to “willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved” (Psalm 78:18). Selfishness caused the rich young ruler to turn his back on Jesus (Matthew 19:21-22). Selfishness ruins friendships (Proverbs 18:1), hinders prayer (James 4:3), and is the product of earthly wisdom (James 3:13-14).

The opposite of selfishness is also found in Philippians 2: being united with Christ, having tenderness and compassion, and “being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose” (Philippians 2:2).

Prayer and a love of Scripture are necessary as well. “Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain” (Psalm 119:36). Love covers a multitude of sins, including selfishness. If we are truly “devoted to one another in brotherly love” (Romans 12:10), we cannot be selfish. Having the attitude of Christ is to demonstrate tenderness and compassion for all those we meet.

Now some may not like what I am about to say, but I will say it anyhow, and I stand by it 100%! Everything we do as Christians CANNOT have a price tag attached to it! We say we want unbelievers saved, but they must pay for the Gospel we received for free! Well, what happens when the book would be a tremendous blessing to them, but they cannot afford the $19.99 price tag? What happens when that conference would have changed her life, but she could not afford the registration, hotel rate, and airfare to attend? What happens when he would have been greatly encouraged, but could not attend your men’s retreat because he is unemployed? Jesus met people where they were! Why don’t we?

I have been asked for the last 13 years why I do not turn the devotionals into a book? Or why haven’t I published my book yet? Or why do I post all my bible studies, sermons, and devotionals on my website for free? Well, this is the reason in a nutshell: Not everyone can afford a price tag! But what I have found personally priceless is the Pastor in Nambia who emailed his thanks for allowing him to use a bible study series that brought souls into his church. Or the missionary in Botswana that used a devotional to teach the children about having dreams. Or the Evangelist in Brooklyn that preached a devotional because it encouraged her heart personally. Or the sister in Detroit that rediscovered Worship through the ‘Inspirational readings Or the brother in Atlanta that is newly married and follows faithfully every devotional to see how he can apply the lessons to his life and become a better father, husband, and man on the marriage devotional I wrote.

Those things were possible because what they needed was within reach and free. When I hear that it encouraged, empowered, or inspired someone to do and be better, that is the gift to me! I want to share something with each of you. Someone sent me this about 9 years ago. She said when I was unsaved you shared a Free Scripture with me from John 1:12, when I told you I wasn’t the type of person Jesus of all people would want to associate with. And yet you quoted, “But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” At the time I was homeless with 2 toddlers in a shelter. You invited me to church, and I told you I could not come because I did not have any money or the right clothes to wear. You picked me and my girls up, took us to your home, introduced us to your husband, fed us and clothed us and got us a motel room for a week. I had nothing to give you in return, but my thanks and friendship, which remained intact until we relocated.

I share all of this because my heart grieves for those who need but are not being helped! While we’re running, jumping, praising, worshiping, dancing, spinning, speaking in tongues, preaching, teaching, and praying…someone is wondering where they’re going to live; what they’re going to eat; where will they get coats for a cold season; when will a job finally come through; what will I say to the kids for Christmas, when I have no gifts for them? How do we celebrate Thanksgiving when we do not feel as if we have anything to be thankful for? How will I get the lights and gas back on? Then, you have those that are trying to pull themselves out of the bed just one more day. Those who are depressed, discouraged, wounded, desperate, in pain, and just all around frustrated with life!

You have no idea what the planting of your small seed may one day yield for someone else’s harvest.

You see, Jesus said, “To whom much is given, much is required.” (Luke 12:48). Therefore, should not we (believers; the church; the disciples of Christ; the children of Light; the children of God) then be found giving as much as we are getting? Honestly, the young lady called me, she is married and has a beautiful home and job, she finished college she said to me, can you imagine for someone like me, with all of that as my testimony, to be selfish? Truth is, I cannot afford to be! Because when I needed God, one of His servants was there for me and that was you and I did not need to pay you to be there either! I do not know what my life would be like had you never crossed my paths. And I truthfully do not want to know! But what I learned from you is to always share the unconditional love of God and to do for others as I want done for me. I needed someone, and you were there.

Today I continue what I do because I want to be there as God’s mouthpiece for the person who is at the end of their rope. I want to teach them how to hold on even if it is to the last string. Because this is what we are here for. There are lost people who need at least a little of what we have a lot of!

So, what did the lepers from 2 Kings ultimately do? “So, they went and called out to the city gatekeepers and told them…” (vs. 10 NIV) We need to do the same. Those who are perishing, hurting, depressed, and discouraged, need us to call out to them because somebody remembers what it was like on the other side of the wall. Someone here today needs to tell them what God did. We need to tell them what we have found. We need to share our discovery. We need to tell them the Good News. We need to feed those who are so desperately hungry, both naturally and spiritually. Don’t get me wrong, it’s alright to pray for your cup to run over, just make sure you amend your prayer to say, and Lord give me a saucer for the overflow so I can pass the blessing on! Do not sit at the table full, while others are empty, and you have extra!

Pass the Plate Please!

Every believer should be actively involved in reaching the lost; rescuing the dying somehow…including you, in an outreach to people that you are uniquely close to, or by starting or supporting outreach programs through your church, or by giving time or talent to a Christian ministry that is actively rescuing lost people. Maybe even by changing your life plans. But just do not keep piling it up on your plate, because there are people all around you who are dying of starvation both naturally and spiritually.

Today, Let Us BE the People of God in Both Our Word and Deed!

Today, let us Pass the Plate to Those Starving Who Need Sustenance…Naturally AND Spiritually!

“Do all the good you can; by all the means you can; in all the ways you can; in all the places you can; at all the times you can; to all the people you can; as long as ever you can.” (John Wesley)

Blessings

Learn From The Spider, They Have LARGE Lessons To Teach Us! Everything A Spider Needs To Survive and Succeed In Life, God Put WITHIN IT! What Is The Message Of The Spider? EVERYTHING YOU NEED, GOD HAS ALREADY PLACED WITHIN YOU! Listen:

The-Spider.jpg

Learn from the Spider, They Have LARGE Lessons to Teach Us, Even Though They Are Little Creatures!

1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” (AMP)

I by no means have a green thumb, I never have and never will! I have managed to keep a few plants alive…briefly… However, I do have a friend named Lisa who was born with two green thumbs. She has one of the most beautiful fruits and vegetable gardens I think I have ever seen in my life. And more than once I have literally asked her to take me on a tour of her garden. And I must say this little city girl always learns a lot in that garden. One of the last times we toured her gardens she showed me a garden spider at work. It was not at work; it was really at dinner! It was just finishing “filet a la grasshopper”; which just so happened to be the latest insect to be caught in his web.

Now, while I was watching, another grasshopper flew into the bottom of that web a few inches below the spider. And since the web is sticky, he stayed there. Well, Mr. Spider left his dinner, slid down this silk thread like a fireman would slide down his pole, and in a maneuver that you would have missed if you looked away for even a second, this spider spewed out a bombardment of silken thread that totally encased and imprisoned that grasshopper – kind of mummified him. It was over in seconds. From the very moment that he touched the web that grasshopper never stood a chance! Amazing how much trouble just one touch can cause!

There is this very day a powerful, shrewd, spiritual destroyer who’s looking for a way to entrap you, to invade your soul, to take you where you never thought you’d go; to devour you as dinner. And in a very real sense, the Devil’s trying to get you just to touch his sticky web. Like that grasshopper, you do not intend to stay. You do not intend to become a prisoner. You certainly do not intend to lose everything. In fact, Satan never tells you he is going to do all that. He just says, “Just touch this beautiful web one time.” And when you touch the Devil’s web, you are his. And what does he have planned for you? Let us look at 1 Peter 5:8 in a few translations, shall we?

“…sneaking around to find someone to ATTACK.” (CEV).

“…looking for someone to ATTACK AND EAT.” (ERV).

“…looking for some VICTIM TO TEAR APART.” (TLB).

“…looking for someone to SWALLOW UP.” (NIRV).

And that is exactly what the Spider, Lion, and Devil all do alike! They quickly look for a victim who has made a mistake or shown a sign of weakness and then they swiftly take full advantage of it and devour or eat them greedily, consume them destructively and swallow them whole! And you my friend are the next target on the enemies’ radar! So, what is one of the first things you need to do? 1 Peter 5:8, “Keep awake! Always watch. The devil is working against you. He is walking around like a hungry lion with his mouth open. He is looking for someone to eat.” (NLV). The key is “…WATCH AT ALL TIMES…” Because truth is, it is always when we let our guard down that our enemy gains entry and victory! Which is why we need to follow the admonishment of Ephesians 4:27, “And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin…” (AMP). And the devil is always looking to gain an opportunity, which is why we ALWAYS must be WATCHFUL!

Let’s be honest, truth is, you might be flying perilously close to that web right now by the relationships, or the relationship you’re getting into, by listening to what you’re listening to, or watching things that glamorize or trivialize, or “humorize” sin. By the thoughts, you are dwelling on. By the websites you go to, maybe you are falling for some of Satan’s most successful web lies, “Hey, just this once.” “Don’t you deserve this?” “Remember what they did to you first?” “You know, so many others are doing it, right.” “You won’t get caught.” “You can stop anytime you want to.” “Would God allow it so close to you if He didn’t want you to be near it?” “It won’t hurt.” “No one will know.”

Amazing how much trouble one little conversation with the devil can get you into! They went from everything to nothing, by messing with the serpent! Do not let the same thing happen to you! Do not fall for those lies. They have destroyed too many people already!

Remember, once you touch the web, he can do what he wants with you, after all, you are in his territory and on his property. He has the legal right to take full advantage of the “foothold and opportunity” you have just granted him. That is the danger of allowing the wrong people access into your life! Remember Ephesians, “…don’t even give the devil the opportunity…” which means in our simple day-to-day vocabulary:

You see, the devil is just waiting for an opportunity to devour your life, family, marriage, reputation, character, integrity, ministry, job, and church. The problem is, we don’t pay close enough attention to when ‘favorable opportunity moments’ arise. Moments like those appear when you and your spouse have had a falling out, and the next picture that you see while scrolling through your timeline is an ‘old friend’ who’s ‘just a friend.’ They see you online and send you a quick, ‘it’s been awhile, how you are doing?’ And some are slicker than that, ‘how is your wife, family, church?’

I warn you; the Devil is waiting for an opportunity because he needs a favorable time to attack. He waits for those moments when you make the worst decisions, moments like when you are stressed, aggravated, annoyed, depressed, angry, lonely, feelings of low self-esteem, and self-worth. Feeling used and abused and abandoned, taken for granted, under-valued, over-estimated, and discarded. See, the devil will always look for favorable times to attack you because you are not expecting it! You do not realize that he is an opportunist just waiting to take advantage of your ‘ guards down’ moment so he can immediately exploit your weakness!

Interesting enough, while I was in my friend’s garden, I saw another spider and a grasshopper that landed just below his web. The spider did not even move. He could not touch that grasshopper if the grasshopper did not touch the web. People of God, you render Satan powerless against you in the same way. That is why God said, “Be self-controlled.” “Be alert.” “Resist him.” Or in the words of James 4:7, “So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you.” (AMP). In a nutshell, Submit to God and Resist the Devil! The word “resist” is defined as “to withstand the action or effect of; to refrain from.”

If you do not play around with the sticky threads of sin and temptation, the one who wants to devour you cannot even touch you, because you have done what the Bible says! You have resisted the one who would ruin you!

Listen, you have been flying close to the Devil’s web lately, too close might I add? Because the first grasshopper that went into the web became dinner; the second one that got too close was wrapped up like you would leftovers for the next night; but the last one that didn’t touch the web, couldn’t be trapped by the web, nor devoured by the spider! This is not a devotional telling you to get close but do not get caught. The spider could not touch the last grasshopper because he was not close enough to catch. Likewise, if you do not want the lion to devour you or Satan to steal, kill and destroy you, STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THE WEB, THE SPIDER, THE LION AND SATAN AS POSSIBLE! Reevaluate your habits; be honest and address your addictions; readjust your attitude; ask God for clear and concise thoughts and speech; protect your character and integrity; remember that every choice comes with a consequence and others can suffer by association due to your unwise decisions. Ask God daily to remind you that in the midst of every temptation He’s already provided you a way of escape and all you need is the discernment to see it and the wisdom to take it. Pay attention to your attractions and triggers. Know your weaknesses and plead the blood over them.

The Spider skillfully grasps with its hands, and it is in kings’ palaces” (Proverbs 30:28 NKJV)

Everything a Spider needs to survive and succeed in life, God put WITHIN IT! Swipe it with a broom and before it hits the ground, its fall is broken! It just reaches inside, releases another protein-filled silk-like thread, slides down, finds a safe place, then comes back stronger than ever and builds a new web! What is the Message of the Spider? EVERYTHING YOU NEED, GOD HAS ALREADY PLACED WITHIN YOU! Ephesians 1:3, “Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Through Christ, God has blessed us with EVERY spiritual blessing that heaven has to offer.” (GWT) You are not waiting to be blessed, hoping to be blessed, praying to be blessed, you my friend already have, “EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING THAT HEAVEN HAS TO OFFER.” You Already Have EVERYTHING YOU NEED!

The Bible further says, “His divine power has given us EVERYTHING WE NEED for life and godliness…he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature…” (2 Peter 1:3-4 NIV). What has God given us? “…EVERYTHING WE NEED…” What has God made us participants in? “…HIS DIVINE NATURE…” How Awesome Is That?!! We lack absolutely NOTHING, for our God has already supplied us with, “…EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR LIFE…” Which means, you don’t have to look a certain way, act a certain way, find the right people, style yourself a particular way, beg or plead with people for favors, opportunities, and chances, no, you already have everything you need! How? Because you were created in His image and likeness, His divine nature! (2 Peter 1:3-4 NIV). The tense is Past tense! “…HE HAS GIVEN US…” We are not waiting on the promises of God, as His children, we already have them! Walk like you know that everything you need God has already put it within you and that includes blessings and promises!

REMEMBER THE MESSAGE OF THE SPIDER: YOU ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED WITHIN YOU!

Now, when it is time to lay eggs, the Spider produces a particular type of silk thread and spins it into a protective sac, then deposits them. When an enemy comes to steal the spider’s offspring, it gets trapped on the sticky fluids that line the silk. Then the spider wraps the enemy in another kind of thread and turns it into food!

What is the Message of the Spider? THE BATTLE IS OVER YOUR FUTURE!

Do not let the enemy have your children! Do not let him rob you of your potential! Do not let him steal your destiny! When those with weak wills, weak knees, and weak faith saw the giants in the Promised Land they wanted to go back to Egypt! BUT NOT CALEB! He said, “Neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are BREAD FOR US!” (Numbers 14:9).

When the spider lays its eggs, predators immediately come on the scene to steal his eggs and devour them, so nothing comes of them. Sounds a lot like Satan, doesn’t it? John 10:10, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy…” (AMP); 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be always alert and cautious. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” (AMP). And who is the thief, lion, and the devil looking to devour? US! But more than that, he is after our seed! Even when we forget who we are, the devil never forgets! He is not just after us, he is after our seed, the generations to come, because he knows if we continue to teach them how to war in the spirit, he does not stand a chance! If we continue to teach generation after generation that Satan belongs under their feet and that they have the authority and power to crush his head, there will be generations of warriors and victors, and his kingdom will be demolished! Therefore, church, let us protect our children! Satan is coming to devour them, but we will stand as the strong soldiers God called, commanded, and commissioned us to be, and we will make Satan and his imps, “…bread for us!”

REMEMBER THE MESSAGE OF THE SPIDER: PROTECT OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS!

Let us dig a little deeper, shall we? The spider has EIGHT EYES, YET IT CAN BARELY SEE! What makes it an avid hunter is that the hair follicles on its legs are full of sensitivity and it can Discern Everything That is Going on Around It!

What is the Message of the Spider? USE YOUR GOD-GIVEN SENSE OF DISCERNMENT!

You can discern more with your Spirit than You Can See with Your Eyes! “Ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things” (1 John 2:20). God will let you know things you can neither prove nor explain! Jesus said that He would show us “things to come” (John 16:13).

The way to walk in Discernment is to Stay in the Word of God, Use the Wisdom of God, and Stay Close to God Himself and His Voice! The more you become engrafted in His word, wisdom, presence, and voice, the more familiar it will become to you so that whenever something or someone is off, you can pick it up before you make a fleshly error in judgment! Listen: You Can Afford for Your Eyes to Fail You, But Not Your Discernment! 2 Corinthians 5:7, “for we walk by faith, NOT BY SIGHT…” (AMP); 2 Kings 4:9, “And she said to her husband, behold now, I PERCEIVE that this is a holy man of God who passes by continually.” (AMPC) Can you imagine how many ‘unequally yoked’ relationships would have never happened had we functioned in this discernment? Do not just ask God for Vision, ask Him for Discernment!

REMEMBER THE MESSAGE OF THE SPIDER: USE YOUR DISCERNMENT!

We have come this far; we may as well keep going! How is it possible that a Spider can walk across the sticky threads of its own web and not get stuck, yet those same threads will trap every predator that enters? The secret is – OIL!

Its tiny suction cup-shaped feet exude FRESH OIL WITH EVERY STEP, SO IT GLIDES THROUGH STUFF OTHERS GET STUCK IN AND CAN’T SURVIVE THROUGH!

What is the Message of the Spider? YOU NEED TO BE CONTINUALLY ANOINTED WITH THE FRESH OIL OF GOD’S SPIRIT!

Looking back, you realize that is what kept you sane when you thought you were going to lose your natural mind! It is why you made it when others did not! And it is why you need to stay filled with God’s Spirit Every Day! The Psalmist said it best: “I shall be Anointed with Fresh Oil!” (Psalm 92:10).

BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME, EVERY MORNING GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES AND PRAY, “LORD, ANOINT ME WITH FRESH OIL”! I need it to minister effectively; I need it so I can pass it down throughout the generations; I need it so my flesh doesn’t interfere with my spiritual assignment; I need it so that I don’t attempt to use my gifts, talents, and skills to substitute for it! I need it so I do not get stuck in what stagnated others!

REMEMBER THE MESSAGE OF THE SPIDER: YOU NEED CONSISTENT FRESH OIL!

Got another point for you! Some Spiders have so much Venom in them that they can KILL ANYTHING they encounter, SIMPLY BY RELEASING WHAT’S IN THEIR MOUTH!

What is the Message of the Spider? GUARD WHAT COMES OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!

Paul writes, “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). What are taking in? What are you giving out? Faith or fear, hope or discouragement, joy or sadness, truth or error, love or bitterness, compassion, or judgment? The Bible says, “Death and Life are in the Power of the Tongue: and they that love it shall Eat the Fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21)

Notice Two Things in This Scripture:

  1. Your Mouth is a Life and Death Issue.
  2. Your Words Are Like Seeds; They Always Produce Fruit (Good or Bad)!

You cannot believe God for His Best, then go around expecting and expressing the Worst! When what you say consistently, contradicts what God’s Word says, you are Sabotaging Yourself! The Words You Speak Have Power – and Consequences! So, begin to correct yourself! Instead of saying, “I can’t change,” or “I’ll never get out of this mess,” start saying what God’s Word says. Do what Jesus did in the wilderness: Open Your Mouth and Declare, “IT IS WRITTEN” Jesus in essence lets Satan know: “IT IS WRITTEN THAT I DON’T HAVE TO BOW TO YOU. IT IS WRITTEN THAT I DON’T HAVE TO COME TO YOU FOR WHAT I NEED.” And what was the result? “THE DEVIL LEFT HIM AND ANGELS CAME AND ATTENDED HIM” (Matthew 4:11 NIV). So, when you are under attack, open your mouth, declare God’s Word, and the forces of heaven will come to your aid! In addition, do not retaliate, do not spread vicious rumors, lies, gossip, and slander as a means for revenge. Do not curse, do not demean, do not belittle, do not be condescending. Use your words to speak life even when you are under a deadly attack!

SET A GUARD OVER YOUR MOUTH AND WATCH WHAT’S COMING OUT OF IT! YOUR VENOM MAYBE KILLING A LOT OF FOLKS…INCLUDING YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND YOUR OWN FUTURE!

2 additional tidbit bonus lessons from the Spider:

  1. YOUR SIZE DOESN’T DETERMINE YOUR POTENTIAL! Please hear me, you do not have to have a title, position, or degree to be favored by God and accomplish great things! You do not have to be the people pick their favorite, their preferred. You do not have to sit in the pulpit, you do not have to have 10 initials and 20 degrees! You do not have to be in the right circles! You just need to use whatever God placed within you! No need to be impressive, seek to be impactful by using what is in you, no matter the size, or how insignificant others may think it to be!
  2. NO MATTER WHERE YOU START, YOU CAN ALWAYS END UP IN THE KING’S PALACE! It does not matter what your finances look like, your education, or where you have been. God does not look at the chronology of your life for a good reason to bless you or use you. You can have an ugly start in life and end it beautifully! Where you have been has absolutely nothing to do with where God is taking you! Trust that!

Believe it or not, but there is still another lesson to learn. And what is the last Message the Spider is teaching today?

AS LONG AS YOU LIVE, KEEP PRODUCING!

A Spider is always Producing Something! Whether it is Oil or Silk Threads or Eggs, the Spider is Always Producing Something! Now, you might not produce as much as somebody else, but you have got to keep producing something! You might not be able to produce what you used to but keep producing something! Jesus taught that some of us produce thirtyfold, others sixtyfold, and some a hundredfold (Matthew 13:8) In other words, we don’t all produce at the same level, but we must all produce at some level! Now, do not get intimidated because the other guy is producing a hundredfold and you are only producing sixtyfold. You are only accountable for what God gave you to Produce!

Blessings
