Don’t Destroy Your Witness By Playing Games With the Name of JESUS! , Even The Devil Knows That Name And Knows His Followers! The Real Ones At That!

Acts 4:15-17, “They sent them out of the room so they could work out a plan. They talked it over: “What can we do with these men? By now it’s known all over town that a miracle has occurred, and that they are behind it. There is no way we can refute that. But so that it doesn’t go any further, let’s silence them with threats so they won’t dare to use Jesus’ name ever again with anyone.” (MSG)

We're reading about a confrontation between the early apostles and the Sanhedrin, the religious ruling group of that day. Here's what they said to the apostles, “They sent them out of the room so they could work out a plan. They talked it over: “What can we do with these men? By now it’s known all over town that a miracle has occurred, and that they are behind it. There is no way we can refute that. But so that it doesn’t go any further, let’s silence them with threats so they won’t dare to use Jesus’ name ever again with anyone.” (Acts 4:15-17 MSG)

Well, believe it or not: The devil has a word he doesn't want to hear used, and it’s "JESUS", Because The Power of That Name Will Destroy All his Plans! So, for over two thousand years, the devil has tried to make the name of Jesus the issue; the dividing point. It was over two thousand years ago when the Sanhedrin said, "You can talk about God, you can talk about religion, you can do anything, just don't mention that Name!”

And sadly enough, that’s still the issue today, isn't it? Truth is, people don't mind if you talk about religion, or even God, or the Bible, or morality, or family values, or your church, but don't mention the Name Jesus.

All too often we fall right into the devil's trap to censor the name of Jesus in our conversation. We don't want to be offensive; we don't want to turn anyone off. And there's this little voice that says, "Well, just talk about God. You know, most everybody would accept that." So we talk about God in our lives, but we avoid the name of Jesus.

Christian musicians will write songs that talk vaguely about Him with a capitol H, but too often they avoid the Name Jesus, so their music can cross over to the secular world. We no longer sing Gospel music about salvation, the blood, the cross, the resurrection, and the Name of Jesus. No, today the church has become quite “inspirational.” If you listen to the music, the prayers or even the lessons and sermons, it’s hard to know exactly who the church is talking, teaching, preaching about, or praying to!

Even Christian leaders try to avoid conflict by watering down the Name: “In His name we pray.

But Acts 4:11-12 says, "This JESUS is the stone which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation].” (AMP). The power is in the Name of JESUS! The devil knows the power in that Name that’s why he works so hard to muzzle your mouth!  Don’t let him do it!

The Scripture tells us, “…FOR GOD HAS PROVIDED THE WORLD NO ALTERNATIVE FOR SALVATION…”

That word “alternative” is defined as “of one or more things available as another possibility; expressing a choice; offering of options; something that can be chosen instead of something else. But, when it concerns salvation, there is nothing else available, no other possibility, no other choice or option, and absolutely nothing and no one else you can use instead of, ONLY THE NAME OF JESUS!

So, how can we possibly be silent about the Only Name that brings Salvation, the Name OF JESUS!

Romans 1:16, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation [from His wrath and punishment] to everyone who believes [in CHRIST AS SAVIOR], to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (AMP)

People of God this is where your boldness kicks into high gear! You have nothing to be ashamed of when talking about the Name of JESUS CHRIST! It is your (and everyone else’s) only means of Salvation from eternal death, damnation and hell! So, don’t murmur it, don’t whisper it, and don’t utilize politically correct names for it. His Name is JESUS!

How can you as a believer possibility be ashamed to say the Name JESUS?!
After all, it is by the Name JESUS where you received salvation, healing, wholeness, peace, joy, unconditional love, restoration, renewal, revival, forgiveness…HOW CAN YOU NOT SAY THE NAME JESUS?!

It is the Name JESUS that kept your marriage together; that brought your children back to their senses; that saved your household; that healed your mother; that delivered your father; that got you that job; that carried you through school…HOW CAN YOU NOT SAY THE NAME JESUS?!

But you see that's the 2,000-year-old editor from hell saying, "Edit out Jesus. How dare you mention that Name." But how did Peter and John feel about that? Let’s see:

Acts 4:18-20, “They called them back and warned them that they were on no account ever again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John spoke right back, “Whether it’s right in God’s eyes to listen to you rather than to God, you decide. AS FOR US, THERE’S NO QUESTION—WE CAN’T KEEP QUIET ABOUT WHAT WE’VE SEEN AND HEARD.” (MSG)

And truthfully, neither can you! I mean as you look back over the course of your life, and see what JESUS has brought you through can you honestly be quiet about the Name of Jesus?! Think about it: The addictions; the habits; the bad friendships, relationships, marriages; choices; consequences; health challenges; family troubles; financial disasters; loss of employment; repetitive failures…can you look at all of that and be quiet about the Name of Jesus?

After all you’ve seen what JESUS did for you and your loved ones, after all the praise reports you’ve heard about what He’s done for others, can you really remain quiet about the Name of JESUS?!

Now Peter and John were facing some seriously life or death decisions in mentioning or not mentioning the Name of JESUS. After all, listen to the Bible:
“…The religious leaders renewed their threats…” So, their attackers weren’t about to let up on this. They came back at them and renewed their threats. They were going to do whatever it took to silence these boys, however, let’s read some more…“…but then they released them. They couldn’t come up with a charge that would stick, that would keep them in jail. The people wouldn’t have stood for it—they were all praising God over what had happened. The man who had been miraculously healed was over forty years old.”

Listen, what you do and what you don’t do, affects more than just you. The people were standing around, they also saw and heard what Peter and John had seen, heard and done. And likewise, people are watching you, listening to you and imitating you. Do you really want to set the example of being a coward for Christ?

Husband and wives are watching and listening; your sons and daughters are watching and listening; your ministries and churches are watching and listening; your schools, jobs, businesses and communities are watching and listening. And if that’s not enough, the unsaved and even the devil is watching and listening! Don’t Destroy Your Witness By Playing Games With the Name of JESUS!

Don’t play games with the Name of Jesus, Even The Devil Knows That Name And Knows His Followers! The Real Ones At That! Don’t let the devil embarrass you!

Make Sure Your Name Comes Up On His Radar When The Name Of Jesus Is Mentioned! Let the devil know, you know the Name and aren’t afraid to use it either! Don’t let him muzzle your mouth by mumbling some “in His name”, prayer. No, open your mouth and declare “IN JESUS NAME!”

Blessings

We Can’t Keep Slapping Scriptures and Spiritual Words on Everything!

Believe it or not, even the Most Elaborate of Palaces Still Collect Dust and Dirt! So your rubbish doesn’t remove your Royal Status in the Kingdom! SO TAKE A LOAD OFF AND TELL HIM! HE’S YOUR SAFE PLACE!  As Leaders, we often times do great damage to our churches when we push people to keep on pressing through instead of sitting down and re-evaluating themselves and their issues! We Can’t keep Slapping Scriptures and Spiritual Words on Everything!

We want them to constantly scream Victory, Praise, Warrior, Restored, when in actuality, we need them to be honest that when they go home (after the music has stopped, the sermon is over and the anointed atmosphere has lifted) the truthful words they speak are Defeated, Exhausted, Depressed, Scared, Insecure, and Suicidal. We can’t keep slapping Scriptures and Spiritual Words on Everything! People need a “Safe” place to unload their stuff! And sometimes their stuff is not going to sound all that pretty or powerful! The tragedy is we often don’t take advantage of this opportunity for openness with God. Instead we come to Him all wrapped up in some kind of religious prayer talk with all of our thus, ye, thou and saith! We dress up our hurt and skirt the real issues!

We refuse to put the right name on what we’re feeling, because it might scare us to call it what it really is. But you can’t get delivered until you can define your hurt! Only the TRUTH will set them free, so if we keep teaching them how to Masquerade behind church lingo or church activity, they will forever be BELIEVERS IN BONDAGE!

And you don’t have to worry about having it all together before you go to tell Him either! He already knows this thing has torn you to pieces! So you can be scared there, you can be wounded with Him, you can be weak and you can be wiped out. You can be vulnerable and unsure of yourself. In His presence, FOR ONCE you don’t have to have it all together! Remember Matthew 6:6, "Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense His grace." (MSG) God Doesn't Need You "In Character" He Just Needs You To Come To Him In Your Closet Of Prayer!

You don’t have to look good. You don’t have to be in control. You don’t have to have your tie straight, and your dress pressed. You don’t have to have a smile on your face and eloquent words on your lips. You don’t have to walk confident! You don’t have to wonder if He’s going to turn His back on you. No matter what you say to Him, HE ALREADY KNOWS! Telling Him about your sin doesn’t sever you from being a Son of God, nor does telling Him about your dirt disinherit you as a Daughter of the King! It’s high time we stop coming to God all dressed up! After all, we’ll Always be “…naked and open before Him!” says the Scripture!

So stop suffering in silence, and go ahead and tell Him! Tell Him about the affair, tell Him what you stole or what was stolen from you, tell Him about your insecurity or deep hurt. Tell Him how you really feel about what she said or what he did. Tell Him about your loneliness, emptiness and feelings of low self-worth. You can’t shock Him! He Already Knows! You’re not telling Him to INFORM Him, you’re telling Him to FREE YOURSELF! God already knows about every skeleton in your closet and yet He still bids you to come into the closet of prayer: "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." (Matthew 6:6) People may shut you out, but you always have an open door policy with God in prayer!

The Devil Will Always Make You Demonic Offers That Look Like Angelic Opportunities.

Amazing how much trouble one little conversation with the devil can get you into! They went from everything to nothing, by messing with the serpent! And it didn't just impact their lives alone, but the lives of every succeeding generation! Don’t let the same thing happen to you!

The Devil Will Always Make You Demonic Offers That Look Like Angelic Opportunities. However, you don’t have to be fooled, nor do you have to accept. Remember the Word of God: “…we don’t want to unwittingly give Satan an opening for yet more mischief – we’re not oblivious to his sly ways.” (2 Corinthians 2:11 MSG). Don’t Let The Devils Sly Ways Trap You In His Sticky Web!

Don't fall for those lies. They've destroyed so many people already!
That’s the danger of allowing the wrong people access into your life! Remember Ephesians, “…don’t even give the devil the opportunity…” which means in our simple day-to-day vocabulary: Don’t wait until the second phone call; the third text; the fourth picture; the fifth wink; the sixth let’s just grab some coffee; the seventh Facebook inbox; the eight I was just checking on you; or the ninth that color looks good on you! NO! At the FIRST sign nip it in the bud and shut it down, before it bites you in the behind and shuts you down permanently!

What people fail to realize is that you don’t always recover from a mistake or a willful decision to sin! Some lose their marriages, children, jobs, friends, careers, ministries and never get them back! Forgiven does not mean you get to press restart with absolutely no consequences. This is why you should always pay attention to what you’ll lose forever by what you gained for a moment.

(James 1:13-15 MSG). This is why we ought to also remember: “Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is a light best friend with dark? Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands? Who would think of setting up pagan idols in God’s holy Temple? But that is exactly what we are, each of us a temple in whom God lives. God himself put it this way: “I’ll live in them, move into them; I’ll be their God and they’ll be my people. So leave the corruption and compromise; leave it for good,” says God. “Don’t link up with those who will pollute you. I want you all for myself. I’ll be a Father to you; you’ll be sons and daughters to me.”

The Word of the Master, God.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18 MSG).
If you don't play around the sticky threads of sin and temptation, the one who wants to devour you cannot even touch you. You have done what the Bible says. You have resisted the one who would devour you.

God and the Kingdom have need of you…Alive! You have gifts, ministry, calling and anointing to fulfill. You can’t hang out with the destroyer and meet divine destiny at the same time. So today is your day to choose Whom you will serve? Tomorrow is not promised, and someone who thought they had another day realized that last night was their LAST night. Don’t straddle the fence any longer. No more compromise, only conviction to stay on the right side of God’s Law.

By Now Where Should I Be That I Am Not? Don’t Get Stuck! “HERE May Be Comfortable, But THERE Is Calling You!” Today, Get Up, and Get There!

Hebrews 5:11-14, “I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you’ve picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—BABY’S MILK, when you should have been on SOLID FOOD LONG AGO! MILK IS FOR BEGINNERS, INEXPERIENCED IN GOD’S WAYS; SOLID FOOD IS FOR THE MATURE, who have some practice in telling right from wrong.” (MSG)

Today, this devotional was sent to remind you that you’ve been living far beneath your rights and privileges as a Child of God. And now that you know better, do better! We must stop begging, bargaining, pleading, and crawling. We have to Get up and Walk! Whatever you don’t have, get up and go get! No excuses! Today is your day of motivation to make changes in your life for the better. And if that means you have to change some people, places and things, do so. If it or they are not making you better, get rid of them before they make you worse! Keep a circle of people who push you, pull you, charge and challenge you. You need those who refuse to accept that where you are is as far as you can go. You need people who put their foot in your back and propel you out of your comfort zone. You need people who make you pick up tools and start building instead of just looking at the blueprint.

You need people who act like a nightmare to wake you from your daydream to get you to live your actual dream! You need those who call you on the carpet no matter what. You need those who will tell you, to your face, enough is enough. Get up, grow up and get on with life! Don’t settle for flattery of speech; don’t settle for those who say they understand your short-comings, struggles, and strongholds. Don’t settle for those who will carry you so long they actually cripple you. Don’t settle for those spoon-feeding you riches, when they should motivate you to feed on repentance. You’ve been at this stage, on this level, for far too long! Enough is indeed enough. How much more of your time, ability and life are you really willing to waste?

Simple: A healthy child is never content to stay at the same level, and neither should a healthy child of God! Amazing how babies and children motivate themselves to the next level, but we bible-toting, bible-believing, bible-quoting children of the Father are always stuck at, a stagnant, stunted growth stage.

Unfortunately, too many of God's children have reached a particular level of growing up in Jesus and they have just settled down there. You see, they don't feed themselves much spiritually. They depend largely on others feeding them. They have no devotion time, no time in which they read the Word of God for themselves, instead of waiting around for the latest fad-preacher to spoon-feed them sugar instead of handing them a knife and fork for some meat! So many children of God don’t attend Sunday School (which I never understand how you skip foundational teaching); nor do they attend Bible Study (how do you stay healthy if you’re not eating the Word of God, in a consistent, private and public setting is beyond me?)

Then, you have those children of God who think spiritual crawling is just fine, maybe because most of the Christians they know are stuck in the crawling stage. You know, those who’ve been saved 40 years, in leadership 30 years, yet still going around in the same immature circles for 20?! At what point to realize you’ve been in this same place, with these same people, doing all the same stuff for years, and nothing has made a bit of difference in your life yet?!

My favorite part: “BUT THERE’S SO MUCH MORE. LET’S GET ON WITH IT!” I Agree! Let’s be real, who wants to be in the exact same place June 9, 2018 that they were on June 9, 2017 or June 9, 1992 for that matter?  There’s So Much More! More to Mature Into! Our prayer lives should be more, our bible study should be more; our faith, hope and trust in God should be more. We should have more stability by now.  More strength by now; more courage by now. More focus by now. In the words of Paul, “…BY NOW YOU SHOULD BE…” So, maybe the question we need to ask ourselves today is, “BY NOW, WHERE SHOULD I BE THAT I’M NOT? And your follow-up question? “WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT IT…STARTING TODAY?!”

Complaining about the marriage, finances, job, health, the children, the church in fault-finding, blaming, gossiping, pointing fingers, whining, nagging, even crying will not help the situation. It’s time to “…GET ON WITH IT!”Learn to cook, clean, do laundry and pay bills on time. Get out of debt. Finish school. Get a job. Take better care of your health. Move. Relocate. Change your conduct, speech, and attitude. In other words, stop crawling around crying and get up and walk! Walk to the interview, walk to the bank, walk to the counselor, walk to the gym, walk to the real estate. We have to get up and actively do something more to make our life better! Some people have been crawling around in this crib of life long enough. Even babies grow out and grow up, what’s your excuse?

If you feel that you’ve been at this stage long enough; challenge yourself, stretch yourself, and most of all, be honest with yourself, that you are not doing your very best. Today is a great day to give it everything you’ve got! Get up, get out, get on with it and get more!

In Philippians 3, beginning with verse 12, we hear what a healthy child of God wants. Remember, this was written by the Apostle Paul, maybe the most powerful Christian of all time. But still he says, "I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Today is your day to move from mediocre to more. By the end of this year, don’t let your resolutions be the same unfilled ones you made last year. Live today in such a way that you need a whole new set of resolutions, because you’ve resolved to fulfill the old ones already! Don’t get stuck! “HERE May Be Comfortable, But THERE Is Calling You!” Today, Get Up, and Get There!

Whatever You Need Today God Is Enough. When We Find That We Are Broken, Stressed Out, Hurt Or In Pain Is The Time To Call On The Lord.

Whatever You Need Today God Is Enough. In our every moment of joy or hardship, He is there.  When We Find That We Are Broken, Stressed Out, Hurt Or In Pain Is The Time To Cast Our Cares Upon The Lord.  When we lean on Him, we can endure anything and trust that the difficulties will pave a way for renewed success. When crisis strikes in our lives, He covers us and shelters us, providing us comfort to withstand it all by His grace. God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say Thank You?

Don't let anyone destroy you after Jesus restored you.  Pray on it, Pray over it but most of all Pray through it.  If you're not rooted in the Word, your foundation is not stable. We must make time for God and give Him first place in our lives.  If you don't have time for God, nothing is going to work out right in your life. You Can Enjoy Anything - If You Can Enjoy God!   God is not hard to get along with!  If we can make a commitment to spend our first 30 minutes with God each day, it would change our entire life. We don't work God into our schedule. We are to work our whole life around Him. Don’t be overwhelmed by today’s obstacles. The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead resides in you.

God wants to take all the happiness, joy and peace of heaven along with all the disasters, messes, pain, and heartache that we have endured and forge them together, blending them into a story of grace fulfilling His purpose in your life. Through every trial God will make sure you come out better than before. Until Jesus Christ is the obsession of your heart, you'll always be looking to mere men to meet needs that only God can fulfill.  I always prayed for God to lead me to where He wants me to go; now I pray for the courage to go where He leads me. We aren't called to defend our honor; we are called to defend God's. We aren't called to battle each other; we are called to battle the enemy.  We aren't called to be like other Christians, we are called to be like Christ. We aren't called to earn God's love; we are called to receive it.  Either the Bible will keep you away from sin or, Sin will keep you away from the Bible.

As we journey through life, we will get beaten up- we will get hurt and bruised along the way. Scarred memories mark our journey like markers on a highway.  We all wonder what tomorrow will bring; a better life; a better situation; a more prosperous job; or a happy marriage. It is in God that we can find the hope for our future not by falling prey to the devil's schemes and tricks. God want each of us to live a life full of joy, love and abundance; not Satan's way; but the only way which is through our heavenly Father.  You can have a Change for Tomorrow, If you Change Something Today. Get up get out and get something positive going in your life! If you just give God a fraction of your heart; He'll mend your brokenness and make you whole. Doesn't matter what time it is, God wants to hear from you. Jesus has promised that our requests get God's personal attention!  So let us pray to the God who hears & answers.

God needs your feet to go for Him. Trust God for the directions. You always have a place to run to, always. The place is GOD.  People are not perfect. So stop depending on them. Trust He who is perfect. Trust God!  God does not care about your past: He care’s where you are going!

NOTHING IS PERFECT EXCEPT GOD'S WORD!  Let's Take Time To Thank Him Today.

So, When Is The Last Time You Praised The Lord For All Those Times You've Been Delivered From Danger And Never Even Knew it! The Accident That Missed You and Much More.

So, when is the last time you praised the Lord for all those times you've been delivered from danger and never even knew it!  Why did the drunken driver miss you? Why wasn’t your suicide attempt successful? Why didn’t depression have you in a padded room, rocking and trying to remember your name? Why didn’t the accident take your life? Why didn’t the loss of employment cause the loss of your home? After such a painful broken trust, why were you allowed to love again? Why did you get to carry a baby to full term after multiple miscarriages? Why did you survive?

Paul wrote about that level of security in our text of 2 Timothy 4:17-18. He said, "But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength so that I might preach the Good News in its entirety for all the Gentiles to hear. And He rescued me from certain death. Yes; and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into His heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen." (NLT) Now there is a pretty powerful antidote to fear! The Lord WILL rescue me and deliver me from every evil attack! In fact, not even certain death can come for me before His timing for it! And even in the face of timely death, I still have further security that “…the Lord will bring me safely into His heavenly Kingdom…” Death can only come for me when God says it’s invited. And even when it’s invited, it will only bring me to my Father’s House in Heaven! That’s why you should look fear, and even fear of death, right in the face and laugh. You are Always Protected By Your God!

Even being protected by God, He has granted His children a good amount of solid common sense! Paul often continued to preach boldly, even when he knew there were forces who wanted to kill him in the city. But other times he left town quickly or sneaked out of the city in a basket. When Nehemiah and his workers were threatened, he said, "We prayed to our God and we posted a guard day and night" (Nehemiah 4:9). Now, look! Our faith is not in that guard but in our God. But sometimes God chooses to protect us through practical steps that He asks us to take. Therefore, yes you are safe and protected by God, and indeed He will rescue and deliver us. However, we were created with brains for a reason! Always walk by faith, but never walk foolishly, and utilizing God’s wisdom is the best way to accomplish both successfully!

Ultimately we're safe because our Almighty God is watching over us. As a matter of fact, in just six verses in Psalm 121, it says "The Lord watches over you" five times! It concludes by saying, "The Lord will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore."

I often watch the news and I’m blown away at times by the things that happened, that just missed me by a moment! Such as, there was a 5 car pile-up (at an exit I would have gotten off on); a train derailed (the same one I was mad at that I missed). I'm indeed grateful for what God has blessed in my life, but I'm also grateful for what He blocked from it as well!

All I can say is, “The Devil Thought He Had Us, But We Got Away!”

No Prayer, No Relationship. When we stop praying, God stops working. Everyone Has Troubles, But Not Everyone Has Jesus.

No Prayer, No Relationship. When we stop praying, God stops working. Everyone has troubles, but not everyone has Jesus. Jesus is what makes the difference. Pray without ceasing. Learning how to spend time with God is where everything comes together. Time in prayer is not time wasted. It's time invested! The Word of God is the best medicine for a sick spirit. Our God dwells in us by His Holy Spirit, and we must never submit to any other. Even on a good day, don’t think the enemy has forgotten about you. We must stay close to God in prayer and meditation.  When you pray, I mean sincerely pray, God acts!  We give our burdens to God and He gives us His Peace.

The minute we start getting confused, that's when we need to back off. God is not the author of confusion. Learn to laugh at yourself and find humor in life's little mishaps. God can dust anyone off and remove any worldly issues and replace them with everlasting life, love and blessings. Sometimes, we just need to press the pause button and be still so we can hear God's voice. God is going before us, making our crooked places straight! And His Grace is our companion on the way. Ever notice how things don't get better until you throw your hands up and give it to God? He is just that good! There are some things we can't afford to get wrong...Eternity is one of them.

No Prayer, No Relationship.
